TSAA’s views on NMC ruling:
The NMC’s recent ruling allowing nurses to get a 6.5 in IELTS writing provided they get 7.0 in all other areas including the OBS is one great news.
This shall encourage again many nurses to sit the IELTS as it is much cheaper than the OET. Also, to the majority of nurses taking the IELTS, getting a 6.5 in writing is easier to achieve. Meanwhile, if you choose your IELTS review center carefully, getting a 7.0 in the other components need not be a concern.
Furthermore, if you took the IELTS between January 2017 and November 2018, months which qualify as UNDER two years beginning December 5, 2018 (the date when the said ruling shall take effect), you can still use your IELTS results. Just see to it that your UKVI result is still valid as this is the specific kind of test required for you to get your visa in the UK.
